Shah Rukh Khan Interview :

You said at one point that you do not want to love movies. What is the difference between the films you've done so far and "My Name is Khan"?
Karan Johar: First I want to thank you for the warm reception here. We are very honored to be invited into the festival. Thanks. Now to answer your question. When I said I will not make love movies I referred to some kind of romance. With a certain atmosphere, a certain look, with some singing and dancing ... (laughs) I had to get over these things and do something different, yet similar to what we have heart and soul of Indian cinema. I wanted to do something unusual. So for me, "My Name is Khan" is a love story but a story that sends a strong message to viewers.

Thanks for the movie, we liked very much. I wanted to ask about the story. You know last year was arrested in New York ...
Shah Rukh Khan: First of all I want to thank everyone. As always, we warmly, and we thank you to feel at home. I feel like a true international star when I come to Berlin. Thanks tours. I was arrested trying to be arrested (laughs). But I was taking questions. But usually around this receive, I think your face has to do with me ... (laughs). Every time I go on an international airport are controlled more, I ask many questions. But it's ok, because when you go into a foreign country must follow its rules. And this is the movie idea. This is the wall that we've created. We are paranoid some from others. We can not decide if someone is good or bad, on the facts of men. So all countries have their rules, by saying "better safer than sorry us, and understand it. So when I come to Germany, to follow traffic rules, I only go there where I say (laughs). No take that as discrimination, but so are our times.

Do you think your film will change anything? And by the way, you're the best! Best!
Shah Rukh Khan: Okay, if you insist, so are the best (laughs). What I mean is that there are a lot of filmmakers in our country, and make movies when I was created. And Karan Johar to make a risky film to convey a strong message. And I think Indian cinema is on a roll, not only in our country. 20th Century Fox distributed the film worldwide, participation in Berlin ... I think it will matter very much to us as "My Name is Khan" is the first step in the right direction, and believe it and Kajol agree with me when people say I was right place, right time. And I hope that films like "My Name is Khan", which are subject to universal message that love wins everything. I tried to dress this phrase in a movie that everyone understand him. It's a bit long, it is true (laughs) but if you need the toilet, just have a break in the middle of the film. November Indians think seriously at all (laughs).

Your film tells a story similar to that of Forrest Gump. Why did you choose him to be so?
Karan Johar: The world certainly is not innocent. It is full of cynicism. And I think our character,  Rizvan Khan is an unusual hero. The reason I chose to make him suffer from this disorder (Asperger Syndrome, a mild form of autism - no.), is that no ordinary man would not leave such a mission only because his wife was screaming to go it meet the president and telling "him that his name is Khan is not a terrorist". No ordinary man would not do that. Only a man who is not us, who saw life as taught by his mother and his teachers. Who saw life through the eyes of those who read little books. None of us lives life by what is written in these books, but Rizvan do so. And that is why I chose to be. When people ask me what is this film, they say it is a story of a superhero.

Can you tell us something about your character? Cinema as of now, over the last 10 years with Khan when you played your last movie?
Kajol: I think cinema has changed, the audience has changed. New Indians are thrilled, as are a lot of different movies waiting to be launched. We have people who want to risk making another kind of movies.

Do you think the world should return to simple things? Read the Koran and see the world in black and white?
Shah Rukh Khan: Thank you very nice and very smart (laughs). You need to be, if you like my movies (laughs). Just kidding. Eventually, in it's simplicity, the film is about simple things we learn as children. From parents, teachers, and in time we get in life, things get complicated. And forget simple things learned. And religion, be it Islam, Hebrew, Christian, Hindu, all ultimately the same. It is a discipline that teaches you a way of life. You learn to love, to do good things. But life is so complicated that we forget the journey. And to answer your question, my character has not been touched by the complications of life. We must not forget to make time each day. Whether you read the Koran, the Bible or anything, you have to keep living in you. Someone told me the other day that the film is naive. And I think that's the most beautiful part of it. His innocence, as children. Everything is simple. This is also the essence of life: Be simple, be naive and enjoy what is around you, and do not forget to pray.

I've seen all your movies, all 29.
Shah Rukh Khan: It means that you have lost on the bad (laughs).

I have a question for Kajol, we saw all your films, and the Shah Rukh Khan along with. They are wonderful. Have you thought about a career in Hollywood? Did someone suggested? As if not, I suggest you. And the second question of a model in life? Any actress who inspired you?
Kajol: First, thanks for the compliment. Yes, I thought Hollywood, but I have nothing concrete at this time. If it happens, it happens, and ready. I will not complain if it happens. And secondly, do not believe in role models in life. I think there are people I admire, love their work. But I think we need to find your own identity, own self. You can be someone else than yourself.

I've seen you many fans waiting outside. What is your relationship with fans?
Shah Rukh Khan: (laughs) You want to describe all the details? I love all men (laughs) they shake your hand. And I can not lie when I'm in Germany ... I love girls!! (Laughs) Just saying that something extraordinary here is that they are gentle, people like me. And do not call them fans, because that would mean that love comes only from one direction, and I love them as much. I am very happy. I was outside, I greet all, and I said at the press conference late, and I return to give autographs after. You know something, I sit outside in the cold here and I will meet you all! I love it.

(What did stand 10-15 minutes and giving autographs, making pictures and talking with everyone out!).

Now 16 to 17 years entered the film industry in India. And now you're the most famous star in India ... I want to ask you, how you did the simple life ...
Kajol: His life was never simple, he was born complicated (and so the whole room laughs).

I wanted to ask you how you see it change from a simple life in the now?
Shah Rukh Khan: I honestly do not think I really changed much. I just a bigger house, a car bigger and better clothes. But I am thankful to God, directors, producers, everyone who gave me a chance to live this wonderful life. There may be something other than what they are. I am grateful that my children live well, eat well, my sister is healthy, my wife is great, so can not be more grateful than they are. But beyond that, I am a simple person. I wake up, and are very happy that I can go on shooting. I know many people like me, sometimes I do not deserve much attention. But this is life, and am grateful for that. Not work for posterity, and no prosperity. I work because I like to work. Nothing has changed in my life. All my friends they are 17 to 18 years. I do not know what happens to me, I think I have good genes (laughs). Look increasingly better as the years passed (laughing children, and the hall way). Soon to look like Brad Pitt or Tom Cruise! (Laughs hall is in delirium, the laughs and applause). But beyond that, I have no problem (just laughs and room).

You spoke of how beautiful it is here and how happy you your receipt. What you parry the situation at home, where your film has encountered difficulties. The fans have bought tickets from him to support it, having Vader as were some protests against him.I know Shah Rukh stood up last night at 2 am on Twitter ...
Shah Rukh Khan: Yes, you do not have sex, write on Twitter (laughs)

And tomorrow you write on Twitter?
Shah Rukh Khan: No, tomorrow I will have sex (laughing children, and the hall way).

Coming back, you have to say about the fans and the situation in Mumbai?
Shah Rukh Khan: For me personally, not a happy situation. As I said, to work and enjoy people. I have no ideological problem with anyone in the world, are just an actor. No industry that causes people to be sad, but on the contrary. If there is any misunderstanding, I want the film to be understood properly. I go back to India and we hope the film will be released everywhere. Thanks to everyone who came to see the movie. I want everyone to see the movie. As I reiterated before, are not political. I'm too handsome to be a politician (laughs).
